THE SILENT CAPER premiered as an episode of popular television show 77 SUNSET STRIP in its second season, June 3, 1960. The popular series began in 1958 and ran for 206 60 minute episodes It starred Efram Zimbalist Jr., and Roger Smith, respectively as Stu Bailey and Jeff Spencer. The were a couple of swinging, wisecracking, womanizing private detectives. Released by Warner Brothers. Stu and Jeff worked out of an office located at 77 Sunset Strip in Los Angeles, right next door to a snazzy restaurant where Kookie played by Edd Byrnes worked as a valet. The finger-snapping, slang-talking Kookie occasionally helped Stu and Jeff with their cases, and eventually became a full-fledged member of the detective agency. Rex Randolph and J.R. Hale also joined the firm, and Suzanne was their leggy secretary. THE SILENT CAPER episode was written by series star Roger Smith, and is unique in that it is indeed silent. Not a word of dialogue is spoken during the entire episode.
